Depending on your subject matter and target audience, you may be able to get others to help drive traffic to your site with little effort. We’re all familiar with Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) programs, and while most are more trouble than they are worth (i.e. scams), some Internet programs allow you to build up levels and really do work. If you’ve used some of the links on our site to build your own, you’ve helped us by joining our downline. It didn’t cost you anything, and you don’t lose any traffic as a result, but by referring you we get a portion of the traffic you drive as a bonus.
Many banner exchanges have the referral code built into the HTML code they give you, so by default you’ll be building a downline without even trying. We suggest adding some text on your pages to encourage others to join, thereby decreasing the time before you can retire and still have a very active site.
Below are some resources that help develop a downline and drive additional traffic to your site – we like ones that don’t require additional promotional effort.
